Here is some basic information about the recent Nevada earthquakes. So far we haven't felt a thing though our daughter-in-law's family about 30 minutes east has. They had things fall off the shelves and walls. Only 2 earthquakes since January were big enough to be called "significant" and even be listed in USGS's earthquake listing. There was an earthquake this morning. At the links below you will find some interesting photos and maps. The USGS and of course Google are gateways to a wealth of information.
I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and have been through all of their earthquakes including the 6.9 Loma Prieta quake in 1989 when a piece of the San Francisco Bay Bridge fell down so 4.0 eqrthquakes don't phase me unless I'm at the epicenter. (Actually if you are at the epicenter of even a 2.0, it will get your attention.)
When we moved to Nevada, we brought our Bay Area earthquake kit with us, a large Rubbermaid garbage can on wheels with a lid, filled with all the necessary supplies. Now in Nevada, where we live, there are no power lines, no trees and we live on an acre. We are living in a one story house. Our risk here is much less than in California. Worst case scenario is that we'd be camping in the back yard. We also have a tent, sleeping bags, camping gear, large tarps, BBQ and fire pit and more should the house be damaged. The earthquake kit for the most part is still in tact too though a few things have been removed.

Now we do live in a geologically active area. There are lots steam vents so mother earth is very busy near the surface here and we have several geothermal plants in the area. A week ago we visited Steamboat just to take a look at what they had.
Hopefully we won't become beachfront property quite yet with California falling off into the ocean. Actually our largest natural hazard to date has been lightning strikes and wind. Now that is something to be concerned about. We've seen our friend's home in Reno get hit by lightning and it was a huge mess and I've seen lightning strike the ground almost in front of my eyes. That was scary.
